An incentive!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Let me show you what I mean. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/show.co\/nxkR1Av\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>Check this out<\/span><\/a><span>. I promoted one of my singles with the promise that if you follow me on Spotify or give me your email, I will show you a video of me getting slapped in the face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/show.co\/nxkR1Av\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30735 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/diymusician.cdbaby.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Building-Music-Fanbase-1024x588.jpg\" alt=\"| Craig Hordlow\" width=\"1024\" height=\"588\" title=\"| Craig Hordlow\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>When someone sees this, they\u2019re gonna be like, \u201cYeah, I kinda want to see that.\u201d It makes them smile or wonder, and now I can email them more fun stuff and build their connection to my music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Another fun example: <\/b><span>My friend and podcast co-host Kevin Breuner created a campaign where he said \u2018Hear the song that got us kicked off stage.\u2019 It builds curiosity even with people who don\u2019t know or care about the band. They got a bunch of new followers from it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Heres_how_you_can_create_your_own_fun_campaign\"><\/span><b>Here\u2019s how you can create your own fun campaign<\/b><span>:\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Create your Show.co account. <\/b><span>You can sign up for free through your CD Baby account <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/members.cdbaby.com\/Tools\/ShowCo\/?utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=showco_112221\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>here<\/b><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Inside your Show.co account, start a \u2018Social Unlock\u2019 campaign<\/b><span>. Why is it called Social Unlock? It\u2019s as if you have locked up something cool or fun. And in order for your fans to get your cool content, they have to give you something (email, Spotify follow, etc.) to unlock it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Have fun building your campaign!<\/b><span> It takes just a couple minutes to set up your campaign. Run a contest or giveaway<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>Contests are fun. And you don\u2019t even need to give away a big prize. People just love the chance to win something for free.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>So why not run a fun contest for your music? It\u2019s a one-page website where your fans can save your song on Spotify before it\u2019s officially released.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Artists like Kendrick Lamar and Miley Cyrus use Spotify Pre-Saves for two reasons:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span>Your fans will have the song ready to stream on the day of release. It\u2019s in their queue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>It\u2019s good to get a bunch of streams right away. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>A<\/span> <span>high stream-count on day one can be an indicator of success for your newest song or album on Spotify, as it shows Spotify that your music might be worth sharing with their users via:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>algorithmic playlists (such as Release Radar and Discover Weekly)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>email notifications to your followers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Spotify\u2019s official playlists<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Check out the video below to see how YouTuber Anne Reburn used a Spotify Pre-Save to promote her song.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\">\n<div class=\"iframe-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>So there you have it.
