\u2026whenever someone asks: What kind of music do you make?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n How DARE they!<\/p>\n Oh those poor, poor people; they\u2019re usually just being polite (as you sit there in the barber\u2019s chair, or next to a stranger on a plane, or across from your third-cousin at Thanksgiving).<\/p>\n They\u2019re being polite when they ask us to talk about our OWN music. And we pay them back with ummms<\/em> and ahhhhs,<\/em> awkward apologies, slapdash comparisons, or worst of all: \u201cYou just gotta hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n No, they DON\u2019T just gotta hear it<\/em>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s literally your job (if you\u2019re trying to pay the bills with music) to describe your sound in a way that captures their imagination.<\/strong><\/p>\n Instead you fumble. You kick yourself. Then you promise yourself you\u2019ll come up with a good descriptor so you never get caught off guard again. But oh my god, here you are in the same barber\u2019s chair, the same question comes, and still no ammo?!<\/p>\n We can fix that.
