(That\u2019s 106 days from today.)<\/p>\n<p>Previously processed data in Universal Analytics will be stored for at least six months after the deprecation date.<\/p>\n<p>Why was Google making the switch to Google Analytics 4? Because it didn\u2019t rely on cookies and used an event-based data model for measurement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUniversal Analytics was built for a generation of online measurement that was anchored in the desktop web, independent sessions and more easily observable data from cookies. This measurement methodology is quickly becoming obsolete.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Google also announced that\u00a0Universal Analytics 360\u00a0properties would stop processing hits on Oct. 1, 2023. But on Oct. 27, 2022, Google\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/a-new-homepage-experience-plus-5-other-new-ga4-features-389104\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a>\u00a0it
