{"id":9868,"date":"2023-06-12T12:46:22","date_gmt":"2023-06-12T12:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craighordlow.com\/index.php\/2023\/06\/12\/google-search-console-video-indexing-report-gets-three-new-issue-details\/"},"modified":"2023-06-12T12:46:22","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T12:46:22","slug":"google-search-console-video-indexing-report-gets-three-new-issue-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craighordlow.com\/index.php\/2023\/06\/12\/google-search-console-video-indexing-report-gets-three-new-issue-details\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Search Console video indexing report gets three new issue details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has expanded the video indexing report within Google Search Console to provide more detailed actions and reasons on what the issue may be with your videos not showing up in the Google search results. \u201cWe are breaking down the \u201cGoogle could not determine the prominent video on the page\u201d reason into three more specific reasons,\u201d Google <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/blog\/2023\/06\/video-indexing-specific-issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New reasons. <\/strong>Google added these three new reasons:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Video outside the viewport<\/strong>: Reposition the video on the page so that the entire video is inside the renderable area of the page and seen when the page loads.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Video too small<\/strong>: Increase the height of the video so that it\u2019s larger than 140px or the width of the video so that it\u2019s larger than 140px and at least a third of the page\u2019s width.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Video too tall<\/strong>: Decrease the height of the video so that it\u2019s smaller than 1080px.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they look like. <\/strong>Here is a screenshot of what these reasons look like within the video indexing report:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t see it yet? <\/strong>If you don\u2019t see these new reasons yet or you see the old \u201cGoogle could not determine the prominent video on the page\u201d issue being reported, that is normal.  Google said it can take up to three months for the historical data to flush out before it shows all these new error reasons. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the Search Console video indexing report shows 3 months of historical data, you may still see the \u201cGoogle could not determine the prominent video on the page\u201d in the list of reason in the Video Indexing report, but it has no effect on your pages,\u201d Google explained.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care. <\/strong>If you have video on your site and you have seen those pesky \u201cGoogle could not determine the prominent video on the page\u201d errors, now you have a bit more detail on what the specific issues are.
