Vlog Episode #124: John Shehata On NewzDash & Google AMP

Google has announced this morning at 3:44am ET that the May 2022 broad core update is now done rolling out. Google said “The May 2022 core update rollout is now complete.” This comes a day after noticing a lot of volatility, so maybe today we will see much less volatility and things to start calming down.

Google is testing a larger font and larger search bar in the mobile search interface. This was spotted by Brodie Clark, who posted two images on Twitter. I made those images into an animated GIF so you can visualize the size difference between the two.

Google’s Danny Sullivan and John Mueller both said that the search company does not generally launch or begin the rollout of a search algorithm update right before the weekend. Danny Sullivan said on Twitter “it’s fairly unusual in my experience that rollouts happen outside of working hours.”
