Your SEO guide to the ChatGPT API
ChatGPT announced the rollout of its API (GPT 3.5 Turbo) on March 1. I’m bullish on ChatGPT’s utility for several different SEO-related functions like keyword research, local SEO, content, and link building. Having spent much time using ChatGPT, I’m also painfully aware of its limitations. While the API won’t be a panacea (and the web interface is actually much better for some tasks), it can help address some of the shortcomings of the web interface. This article will show you how to maximize ChatGPT’s API with specific SEO use cases. How to use the ChatGPT API To leverage the ChatGPT […]
Why SEOs should focus on creating trust
While trust is not a new marketing concept, it does not get the attention it deserves in most SEO strategies. This article will break down the overlooked importance of trust in SEO efforts and how to incorporate trust-building into your strategy. Overlooking the value of trust is a missed SEO opportunity Fellow Search Engine Land contributor Andrew Holland expressed dismay over his bad user experience with a UK-based retail brand. He felt they “didn’t show up” when he needed them as a customer, which in turn blemished his trust in the brand. Instead of ranting (as I would have), he […]
New Google Analytics item-scoped custom dimensions
Google Analytics has introduced the capability to process item-specific custom parameters from ecommerce events occurring on your website or app. These parameters can be registered as custom dimensions and utilized in exploratory analysis. What they do. Custom parameters on an item-level grant you the opportunity to gather more data about products on your website or app, extending beyond the standard parameters provided by default. For instance, item-specific custom parameters can be employed to obtain information about a product’s color, size, customer rating, and availability status. How it works. When establishing a custom dimension or metric, you need to supply the […]
Google Tests Replacing 3D Label With 360 Label
Google Search is testing replacing the 3D label with a 360 label for products and images that you can rotate within the search results. I guess either 3D or 360 labels would work for this, and I guess Google is testing the alternative.
Google Search Save Your Favorite Brands Feature
Last September at the Search On event, Google announced a new personalized shopping results based on your previous shopping habits with the ability to specify which brands you want. That feature was supposedly launched later in 2022 but I think this is the first time I’ve seen it in the wild.

Insourcing vs. outsourcing: The pros and cons for content creation
Creating consistently high-quality content on the regular is a tall order for any business. So, how do the most successful get it done? First, they have a content strategy in place. After that, it all boils down to whether they insource or outsource that strategy, including planning, ideating, writing/creating, publishing, and promoting. As you’ll soon see, neither insourcing nor outsourcing is inherently better. There are pros and cons associated with each option. […]
